Getting Hooked on iTravex |
It was really my six week trip through Italy that finally convinced me to start keeping some of my travel notes using ITravex. From the most elegant sixteenth century apartment on the Grand Canal in Venice to a 4 bedroom private villa in the countryside in Umbria, and on to an ultra modern suite on the shores of Lake Como, our trip was flawless and probably averaged $50 per day.
We have done so much extensive travelling since then, staying in private homes that were so beyond hotels and at such prices, just by using the iTravex system. The odd and amazing thing was although it was just my husband and myself, so often we had two or three extra bedrooms available.

Our Venetian Trip |
Waking up in a 15th century corner suite overlooking the canals of Venice seemed like a true fantasy. Even in the early morning light, the gentle songs of the gondolier and the sparkling shimmer of water reflecting off the 200 year old chandelier above my bed was so beyond what I envisioned for my first trip to Venice. But I was a guest of Alfonso who I had contacted through Itravex.
I had arranged this wonderful suite two months earlier after pouring through numerous pictures of gorgeous suites and villas on Itravex. Although there were very modern chic choices, I wanted to experience the most original ancient history of this wonderful canal town, so I had chosen Alfonso’s suite. The suite was just off the main canal, which was a smart choice, as I later discovered the main canal can become congested with “gondola traffic”….. if you can imagine such a thing….especially during the summer months, which is when I was travelling…

iTravex Hosts Can Be Amazing |
This part of it is truly the ‘icing on the cake’, because when you send out your first request to identify the dates of your stay, you have opened up an exciting relationship with someone new on the other side of the world. It certainly is a thrill to receive a call from a wonderful Italian gentlemen who is phoning you from his terrace in Italy to talk about your travel dates..........
